08/05/19 - Dementia Friend session at Acacia
We had a afternoon Dementia Friend information session held by lovely Peggy Ennis who is a Dementia Friend volunteer.
What is the Dementia Friends programme?
Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition. Stigma and lack of understanding cause many people with the condition to experience loneliness and social exclusion. Whether you attend a face-to-face Information Session or watch the online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
A glorious day, when residents, staff and family went to Woodcote garden centre for the afternoon of the 25th of February.
It was an unusually warm and sunny day for February.
Peter, resident of Acacia care centre is a keen Gardener and enjoyed the afternoon with his Daughter Lisa who also attended, Lisa said” how wonderful it was to spend the afternoon with her dad in the February sunshine”.
Everyone enjoyed tea and doughnuts in the outdoor café. It was a great day and our resident Cynthia said “that going to the garden centre, is her favourite thing to do no matter the season”. Gardner
